Born and raised in the swamps and neighborhoods of the New Orleans area... I spent most of my life living in a swamp where you could, on occasion, sit in the front yard and watch a snake or gator wander through your front yard or down the road.
I've lived down here all but one year, my junior year of high school, when I moved to Natchitoches to attend the state's school for highly gifted students, LSMSA. I had shitloads of fun, did shit tons of work, partied and got my ass tossed back to regular kid school for my senior year for various offenses against the "giftie code"...
I went back to Hahnville High and graduated... Nothing really special happened that year except for hearing all year long from my teachers that I could do better and that I needed to apply my self... Nothing like a totally bored gifted kid.
Attended the University of New Orleans from 2000 through 2005 (yes, the five year plan) and did the changing major bit... Started out as a computer science major, then I was a math major, an English major for one semester and then ended up a Sociology major. I focused as much of my work as possible in sociology in criminology, statistics and subcultures, specifically the rave scene. I did little bit of research in the Neuropsychology lab of the psychology department while I was there too, focusing on malingering, which I continued after I graduated until Katrina.
I'm currently working as an Information Technology Consultant with a firm in the New Orleans area... Basically, that makes me a systems and network administrator/technician on wheels.
Other than work, I like to listen to music. I like picking tracks and pieces apart in order to pull out the subtle musical nuiances and to learn how to improve my music. I read as often as possible... My Playstation 2 occasionally serves as a diversion as well as the farking television (damn you cable). On the weekends, I tend to chill out at home and on Saturday nights I can typically be found on lower Decatur hiding from all of the tourists at my usual hangout.
Other than that, I can described as a cynic bastard... I have an absolute zero tolerance for bullshit, games and stupid drama, which is funny since the life is full of people who thrive on all three. I will say what I'm thinking and I won't candy-coat it with platitudes and niceties. I'm a strict agnostic and that carries over into my daily life where I place the same expectation for facts and proof on everything people say.
